Carlos Campos Ferreira

He learned rigorous dimensioning and scaling techniques from masters in Santo Tirso. The rest, as Mr. Carlos Ferreira says, "comes from within."

He began working at 13, immediately after completing his schooling, learning the art of carving in a workshop near his home. By the age of 16, he was already independently creating decorative pieces, and at 25, he discovered his calling for sculpture, which became his great passion and to which he has dedicated himself ever since.

He carries out his work alone, in a traditional family-run workshop. He believes that inspiration is fundamental to his creative process, admitting that there are days when “no matter how hard I try, nothing comes out.” He works on commission for sacred art stores, decoration shops, and private clients. Several images displayed in the Mother Church of Lordelo are his work: St. Joseph, St. Catherine, and St. Anthony.
