The furniture brand Laskasas, founded in 2004 by Celso Lascasas in Rebordosa, Paredes, operates a network of approximately 40 physical locations (stores and showrooms) worldwide. Laskasas masters woodworking techniques and the art of woodcraft, combining them with industrial technology to ensure the development of final products with an excellent finish.
Laskasas partnered with World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 by producing the Altar, the Ambo, the chair for Pope Francis, and seating for deacons, concelebrants, and acolytes, as well as the stands for the Pilgrim Virgin and the Processional Cross.
Architect André Mendes, the designer of the pieces, was joined by six Laskasas artisans who, over a period of 325 hours, produced all the liturgical furniture for the WYD stage at Parque Tejo.
The chairs for Pope Francis and the deacons are made of birch wood with padded upholstery to ensure maximum comfort.
