As was customary at the time, he began helping in his father’s workshop while still attending school. At 11 or 12 years old, when he finished his studies, he dedicated himself to full-time work. His initial desire was to learn the art of woodturning, influenced by an uncle who was a specialist in the field, but his father needed him to stay in the workshop to support a large family: seven siblings, only two of whom were boys.
Initially, the focus was on work for local agriculture and viticulture: restoring wine barrels, wooden roofs, doors, and windows. His father was very demanding and rigorous. Today, António feels immense pride seeing his works spread across different locations and views each new project as a stimulating challenge. In his free time, he unleashes his imagination and creates wooden miniatures, purely for fun and creativity.
